Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms is presenting a celebration for America’s Independence a few days early. On July 2nd & 3rd from 9am to 2pm (to beat the heat) the historic site will feature Old West gunfights, a magic show, several demonstrations of life in the early days of our country, a real cannon manned by cannoneer Leo Bush, and some celebrities. Come dressed in an old west costume or as you are, but do come!
Among the Frontier Festivities to be featured at A Frontier Fourth is a Wild West reenactors and Q&A by cowboy stars Dean Reading, Tommy Worrell, and Gary Clarke, actors, authors, filmmakers, and more.
Yes, western TV and film star Gary Clarke (Steve on THE VIRGINIAN TV series) will be on hand with photos, his book, “How It Happened” and more. In addition, Tommy Worrell (John Wayne’s THE ALAMO) will be there along with a few other celebrities. The question and answer session will be held between 19th Century Magic Shows with Gary on his life in the entertainment field.
Tommy Worrell started his film career as one of Bowie’s men in John Wayne’s monumental classic film THE ALAMO. Tommy was a stuntman, renowned gun twirler, and had his own Wild West show featuring his trained Longhorn steer. As an actor Tommy also appeared in HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL with Richard Boone, JERICHO with Buck Taylor and Leon Coffey, and as a regular on the popular daytime show GENERAL HOSPITAL. Other credits include THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE starring Gene Hackman, Shelly Winters, and Ernest Borgnine.
Dean Reading (pronounced RED-ing) is an actor, writer, director, producer raised on Texas ranches in Fort Bend and Cherokee counties. Competing in high school, college, and professional rodeos, Dean ended up in California where he did stunt work in films. Later returning to Texas, he wrote, directed, and appeared in several syndicated TV series including TEXAS TRADITIONS and SIX SHOOTER JUNCTION. He directed a low budget feature film THE WIND FAVORS WEST, and has appeared as an actor in the TV series DALLAS, THE YOUNG RIDERS, WALKER TEXAS RANGER, and THE SON.
Gary Clarke is an actor, writer, director. Born in Los Angeles, Gary’s first film role was the lead in DRAGSTRIP RIOT. He is certainly no stranger to westerns. He guest starred in the TV series, LARAMIE, TALES WELLS FARGO, WAGON TRAIN, GUNSMOKE, and many more. He is best known as Steve on THE VIRGINIAN TV series. He portrayed Captain Richards on the HONDO TV series. Gary also appeared in THE YOUNG RIDERS TV series, and as Crawley Dake in the epic western TOMBSTONE.
