Casting Directors April & May | NO March Mixer

Mixers Resume Next Month

We will not host a mixer in March due to SXSW. We are all grateful for having SxSW here in Austin, but there is plenty going on and local traffic congestion, if not too much for your taste already, will break records.

SXSW 2015

But be sure to mark Wednesdays, April 8th & May 13th on your calendars. Why? Because we’ll be featuring 2 panels of Casting Directors! This is “where the rubber meets the road,” so to speak. Casting Directors are those talented people that producers, studios, ad agencies, and filmmakers hire to find the right actors for the roles in a particular script or project. In other words, if your agent gets you the opportunity to audition for a Casting Director, then your job is to put your heart, soul and mind into the part… and get hired!

All non-represented talent is invited to bring about 6 headshots & resumes to each of the next 2 mixers in April & May for the speakers on the panels.

We are grateful to our panels of Casting Directors for graciously offering their time and insights on April 8th & May 13th, so join us and get updated about the process from the professionals who know. Panelist names will be posted soon.

Last Month…

We extend our deepest thanks to the Talent Agents on both our “beginning of the year” panels:

February 11th

Jason Lee of Acclaim Talent
Erin Franklin of Agence Talent
Cynthia Robbins of BLVD Talent
Heather Collier of Collier Talent
Linda Alcazar of Condra Artista Talent
Romie Szal of K Hall Talent

January 14th

Liz Lyons Atherton of TAG
Veronica Kelley-Albiez of DVA Talent
Tory Christopher of Tory Christopher Group

We had a huge crowd both evenings with a lot of information, laughter, and questions answered. Thanks to all you Talent Agents for your time and insights!

If you plan to go to SxSW, have a great time… and we will see you at Baby A’s on April 8 & May 13, 2015!

Let friends interested in media industries know about our Mixers. We put them on to provide opportunities for you folks to network and get information about acting, films, TV, and other media.

Casting Agents, Round 2

Dear Film, Game, Music and Entertainment People, Friends, Investors and Fans,

WHAT: The Network Austin Mixer
WHEN: WEDNESDAY, MAY 14, 2014 – Networking starts 6 PM; PANEL BEGINS AT 6:45PM
WHERE: Baby Acapulco’s – 5610 North IH-35, Austin TX 78751
WHO: Everyone involved in film, game, TV, and entertainment media… and YOU!
GUEST SPEAKERS: A second panel of Casting Directors!

The question actors often ask is, “Where’s the work?” For actors, the answer is: via Casting Directors. These hard-working folks are the decision makers about who gets invited in to audition for a role. Actors need to know more about what Casting Directors do, how they think, what they look for, what their responsibilities are and what they expect from actors.

The Network Austin Mixer will AGAIN be offering that information and more at our next Mixer on WEDNESDAY MAY 14 with another panel of Casting Directors. And we will again start the evening with an introduction from each Casting Director, about 5 minutes each, in which they will tell the audience about themselves, their experience and their companies. We will then open the floor to the audience for a Q&A session which will last approximately half an hour. Our panel will consist of:

Vicky Boone ~ Vicky Boone Casting
Rachel Flanagan ~ Rachel Flanagan Casting
Beth Sepko, CSA ~ Beth Sepko Casting
John Williams ~ The Cast Station

Folks, you do not want to miss this rare opportunity to get insights and the latest info these Casting Directors will share! Be there… if you want the inside scoop about what’s happening in casting now in this area!

On WEDNESDAY APRIL 9, 2014 we featured the first of two panels of Casting Directors, and we extend our deepest thanks to all of them for their insights, advice and professionalism. They answered numerous questions from our attendees, then spent more time talking individually to many folks. We were honored to have that panel, which consisted of:

Toni Cobb-Brock and Sally Allen ~ Brock/Allen Casting
Brad Burton, CSA, and Kim Burton, CSA ~ Burton Casting
Donise L. Hardy, CSA A Casting Place

Join us on WEDNESDAY MAY 14th at Baby A’s and remember: PLEASE CARPOOL! These will be very important Mixers, and we suggest folks arrive early to get a table. We expect a huge crowd at both, just as we had on April 9, so arrive early!

NOTICE: If Baby Acapulco’s parking is full, you may park at either the Capital Inn (just north of Baby A’s) for $5 or at Super 8 motel (just south of Baby A’s) for $8. That’s why we say ARRIVE EARLY AND PLEASE CARPOOL! Please pay the folks at the desk at either motel when you have to park there so your vehicle doesn’t get towed away.

Let friends interested in the media worlds know about the Mixers. We put them on to provide opportunities for you folks to network and get information about acting, films, TV, and media. See you at 6 pm at Baby A’s on WEDNESDAY MAY 14th!

See photos on Facebook, and tag yourself if you were there!
