Talent Showcase Archive

Don’t miss Network Austin Mixer’s Talent Showcase on December 13th — which is sure to become the talk of the town when it comes to showcasing the best of the best local talent in our annual virtual variety show!

This year’s response to our annual Call for Submissions was overwhelmingly rich with talent and variety. So in an unprecedented move we’ve expanded the event to feature even more acts. Because of this we’ll be starting the program early. Doors will open at the usual 6:00PM, with announcements at 6:15 and then the Talent Showcase beginning by 6:30.

Photography & Videography:
Still photographs are allowed at our mixers; recording videos is not—except at our annual Talent Showcase! We hope that those in our audience will snap photos and shoot videos galore. However, the deal is that whatever you record you will immediately share with Network Austin Mixer so that we may feature it on our website and/or social media.

So, plan on coming to Sherlock’s on Wednesday, December 13th, and invite your friends. Look forward to entertainment by an amazing array of local talent providing perhaps the most spectacular Talent Showcase at Network Austin Mixer thus far, and benefit by opportunities to mix & mingle with others in our industry!

Talent Agents & Casting Directors:
Come be entertained on December 13th by prospective clients, especially since some performers are new in town and some are not yet represented.

Dean Reading & Eric Heisner projects

We are proud to present actors/writers/filmmakers Eric H. Heisner & Dean Reading as our guest speakers this month! These 2 multitalented men have numerous credits & awards and are pleased to share with us their insights, some secrets learned, those proverbial curve balls, and their combined lifetimes of experiences. Look forward to an interesting & interactive mixer!

Eric HeisnerEric H. Heisner (aka Eric Heisner & EH Heisner) earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Filmmaking from Columbia College, Chicago. Later, he worked on the hit television show “ER” then traveled long and far. Moving out to Los Angeles, he landed minor roles for the History Channel and background in several feature films. Upon completion of the award-winning Western TV Pilot “Friend of the Devil” Heisner became known as the “Next Generation of Western Filmmakers”. Attending the Algonquin Cowboy Lunch with such legends as Ernest Borgnine, Bo Hopkins, Bruce Boxleitner, and others serves as continuing education for an actor, writer, and filmmaker with a passion for the western genre. Having his first novel, “West to Bravo”, published by a New York Publisher has put another notch on his storytelling resume. Also along the way Eric co-founded Lean Dog Productions based in Austin & Los Angeles specializing in western and other period films.

Dean ReadingDean Reading competed in professional rodeos in the 70s & 80s, graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History & English and a Secondary Teaching Certificate. In the 1980s, he was the Program Director for Group W Cable in Grapevine, Texas for several years where he produced, directed, and appeared in several television programs. Some went into syndication via the Group W Cable systems and several television stations throughout the Southwest, among them “Six Shooter Junction”, “Texas Traditions”, and “Entertainment Clipboard”. Dean then worked on several films in the transportation department, local casting department, and appeared periodically as an actor. Dean taught video production at Video Technical Institute for a year, as well as advanced film acting at Actor’s Preparatory Studio in Fort Worth for 2 years.

So be sure to join us at Sherlock’s Pub & Grill, 9012 Research Boulevard on Wednesday, November 8th, and bring some friends to hear tales and truths, and direct questions to Eric & Dean, our colorful cowboy duo! Arrive early for a cold libation, networking and meeting new folks with like minds!

We want to extend our deepest thanks to Sylnovia Holt-Rabb and her staff from the City of Austin’s Economic Development Department (EDD): Erica Shamaly, Alyssa Zinsser, Anna Bradley, Jim Butler. On Wednesday, October 11th, our illustrious panel of guest speakers enlightened us about the many programs right here in Austin, including incentives, grants and other funding, and a slew of services for local arts & entertainment. We were all impressed with their passion and enthusiasm, which was quite contagious.
