January 8, 2020 ~ Talent Agents & Open Mic

Talent Agent(s) + Open Mic

Talent Agent(s) + Open Mic

Welcome to 2020, a new year, a new decade, and a new January #NAMixer!

Along with our usual Annual Talent Agent Panel, we may feature an Open Mic, at which you’ll get to stand in front of our audience to pitch yourself.

We’re ever so pleased to announce that at least one prolific talent agent will be on our stage to speak and answer audience questions. Jason Wasner of Acclaim Talent has worked hard & smart to assemble a roster of actors who consistently get cast in paid roles, and he’ll be present to tell others what it takes.

Instructions for Headshots & Résumés: Anyone not currently represented is encouraged to bring at least 1 set of headshot & résumé stapled back-to-back for placement at a designated table upon arrival, preferably prior to the beginning of the program, so that any agents in attendance can have your submission package to review when they leave.

For the second part of our program we’ll facilitate an Open Mic for anyone in our audience.

  • Are you part of a festival award-winning project coming up for viewing in town or online?
  • Are you filming something exciting for which you’re seeking cast, crew, equipment?
  • Do you provide a product or service for our local entertainment industry?
  • Do you have a unique talent or skill you want others to know about?
  • Are you an actor with a special skill set?

Sign up upon arrival for the spots available, and take up to 90 seconds — that’s a whole 1½ minutes — to say whatever you like, so long as it’s clean and on topic. You’ll be in a roomful of local industry people who may need what you’ve got. Jobs are born here.

This year’s Veteran’s Teddy Bear Project ends next month when teddies will be handed to veterans and others, so if you have a soft lovie to donate, we’ll be collecting them this night.

If you bring a stuffed plushie then you get first dibs at the mic!

So, plan on coming to Opal Divine’s Austin Grill on Wednesday, January 8th, and invite your friends. Look forward to wisdom & networking among an amazing array of local movers & shakers, and benefit by opportunities to mix & mingle with others in our industry.

Our audience and we so fervently appreciate the courage it took our line up of performers to brave our stage in showcasing their talents. It was an eclectic show with acting, music, and comedy, followed by rave reviews.

We’re also supremely grateful to the generous talent scouts in attendance, including many who stayed after the show for the performers: Jason Wasner of Acclaim Talent, Brenda Ambrize of Brenda Ambrize Production Services, Claudia Ramon of Condra Artista, Jessica Hovind of Variant Talent, Lilly Bankston of Bankston Talent Agency, and Donise L. Hardy, CSA of A Casting Place. The synergy of your presence plus audience applause added to performers’ hopes that their dreams were worth pursuing.

Come on the 8th and bring a friend to network and enjoy the show. While there enjoy Opal Divine’s Happy Hour which lasts until 7, then $3 “Three for Texas” beers the rest of the evening. And don’t cook or go anywhere else for a meal or snacks because Opal’s offers a tasty and largely locally-sourced menu of goodies.

Beware both rush hour traffic and any current construction!
