June 13, 2018 ~ Open Mic Pitch Session

Pitch Session ~ Open Mic

Open Mic Pitch Session

Back by popular demand: You Pitch You!

Every so often we provide a forum onstage for our attendees to promote themselves, so our guest speakers on Wednesday, June 13th will be YOU!

First up to the mic will be special guest Jennifer Hutchins, recently relocated producer from LA, founder of Austin Entertainment Business, and currently establishing the official chapter in Austin for the Producers Guild of America (PGA).

Then it’s your turn at the open mic. Do you have a project, or looking for one? Have you a talent or skill to offer, or looking for cast or crew? Here’s your chance to be seen and heard onstage. Pitch yourself and what you do or what you want.

Pitchstructions:

  • Arrive early to ensure a time slot on the sign-up list.
  • Pitches will be allotted up to a couple minutes at the mic to introduce themselves, pitch projects, announce events, inform others of your skills, ideas, needs, seek interested partners, and so forth.
  • Handouts can be left at a designated table and/or distributed prior to or following the program.

Projects & jobs can be born or forwarded here, so don’t miss this exciting opportunity to get onstage and make your pitch on Wednesday, June 13th at Opal Divine’s.

Get there early to take advantage of Opal Divine’s Happy Hour which lasts until 7, then $3 “Three for Texas” beers the rest of the evening. And don’t cook or go anywhere else for a meal or snacks because Opal’s offers a tasty and largely locally-sourced menu of goodies.

Last Month

We are extremely grateful to casting directors Sally Allen of Brock-Allen Casting and Donise L. Hardy, CSA of A Casting Place speaking on our Casting Directors Panel on Wednesday, May 9th! These highly talented & experienced ladies shared their time, energy, and insights with us as they explained what casting directors need and expect, and then answered each question posed by our attendees with passion, humor, and clarity. Thank you, Donise & Sally!

Last Month…

We want to extend our deepest thanks to Casting Director Nan Dutton for being our Guest Speaker on Wednesday November 12th! She was extremely knowledgeable, well prepared, passionate, inspiring, and full of wit and insight. After her excellent presentation, Nan continued to speak with individual attendees for another hour. Thank you so much, Nan!

Nan’s 35 year career has consisted of casting, acting, and teaching. She began casting in LA as assistant to Casting Director Reuben Cannon, followed by four years as an associate with Lynn Stalmaster. While casting both film and television with Stalmaster/Howard, she worked on numerous projects such as Jagged Edge, 9½ Weeks, and The Thorn Birds. In 1985, she established her own company Nan Dutton Casting.

As of 2004, Nan has taught workshops at various studios, SAG, and lectured at AFI. Having been an actor and casting director, she recognizes a void that exists for most actors. She hopes to close that void by teaching the craft of acting, television/ film camera technique, but more importantly what actors need to know about working in the entertainment business.

Join us on WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 10, 2014 @ Baby Acapulco’s – 5610 North IH-35, Austin TX 78751 – have a cold margarita, network, meet new folks with like minds, enjoy a fun-filled evening with our attendees, pitch yourself and your project, and listen to others pitch their talents and ideas!

Let friends interested in the media worlds know about the Mixers. We put them on to provide opportunities for you folks to network and get information about acting, films, TV, and media.
